This week got away from me, so no weekend entertainment post.

However, I have one in the works and am adding some great business recommendations that you all have sent me, so keep em coming!

I recently took on a part time job (thanks for all the sweet words of encouragement on twitter last week).

Job hunting turned into somewhat of a nightmare.

It started off so well when I first got home, with job offers for jobs I didn’t even apply for, and seemingly endless possibilities.

Then the next thing I knew everything was falling through, and sad things were happening to the people I love and was working with, which made me question everything.

And honestly, I ended up in a really weird dark place with it all.

I had to reevaluate what I was trying to do, and who I was trying to be.

So this new job…

I am not in love with it, it is far from my dream job, (I am still trying to figure out what that dream job looks like exactly).

but it’s using my degrees a little which is kind of nice, so it will do for now. And hey, it’s a job, and I am thankful to be working again.

In more exciting news, it is my moms birthday tomorrow!

This is the first time I will be home for it in 3 years.

We are going all out and making it a weekend long celebration.

She deserves it.

I hope your weekend is filled with love and celebration, or delicious cake, which is basically love and celebration all wrapped up in one.

I love reading your blog because you stay so real. Other blogs paint over the bad times and just show their pretty pictures of themselves smiling but you really let your readers know that you have struggles too. I’m pretty much going through the same thing job wise (minus the hot Irishman and the move across the pond) so it’s really nice to see that other people struggle to find themselves too. Good luck with your new job! And happy birthday to your mom!

Uggh I hear you on the job hunt! SO frustrating. But the new job is still forward motion, and that counts for something! Also, that puppy is absolutely the cutest thing ever, congrats!

I know this job stuff all too well. I don’t exactly know what I want to be doing… I certainly don’t love what I’m doing right now – but am very thankful to have work at least. Hang in there… you never know when another opportunity could come your way 🙂 AND Happy birthday to your mom!!!

Your puppy is beyond cute & all of those foodie pics made my stomach growl! Luckily, my lunch is in 10 minutes.

P.S. I’m in the same boat as you as far as “dream jobs” are concerned. I have a picture of me doing it – but have no idea what industry I’m in! We’ll figure it out soon 🙂

Congrats on the new job! Have you considered working remotely for a company? My employer, World Travel Holdings, hires people all around the country – with your expat background, you could be a really good fit! Just a thought 🙂

    1. These pictures made me hungry. 2. Congrats on the new job. I am a firm believer that saying yes to opportunities, even if they are not the ideal ones, is what leads you to the dream job/situation/whatever. So here’s to hoping that this opened door will open up the door to that dream job, wherever it may be. 🙂

Congrats on the new job! I think it’s totally okay that it’s not your dream job because maybe it’ll help lead to that!

Happy birthday to your mama! 🙂

Also, every sentence in this comment ends in an exclamation point so I’m adding one more just to show I’m not overly excited or prone to hyperbole today. (<- there, a period.)
